Career Summary
Human Resources Managers are the backbone of every company. They work with employers and employees and are in charge of internal relationships and policies as well as hiring and firing. The terms 'human resource management' (HRM) and 'human resources' (HR) have mostly replaced the term 'Personnel Services' to instill a more personal approach in managing employees.
A human resource manager’s main goal is to effectively use motivational techniques to enhance organizational performance. They plan all or most of the activities of companies for employee recruitment, company orientation, employee training, performance reviewing, salary compensation, and workplace safety.
In addition, human resource managers resolve employee disagreements, preliminary legal questions / situations and answer employee questions. They decide what staffing needs a company may need and makes recommendations. It is also the responsibility of HR to create company policies, standards and guidelines.
Some of the lighter duties of a human resource manager include creating motivational bulletin boards that list employee accomplishments, birthday celebrations, local discounts for employees and company parties.
