Career Summary
Health Information Technicians plan, implement and evaluate educational
programs and strategies designed to improve the health of individuals,
families and communities. Also known as Health Educators, they also assess healthcare training needs for employees, communities of students, publish health education materials and sometimes write or assist with grant proposals.
They work in hospitals, schools, community organizations, businesses, government agencies, or as consultants and develop health education curriculums and or teach health in public and private schools.
Some technicians calculate and analyze data to help improve patient care, help to control cost of healthcare, and to provide information for research studies. They usually work at large facilities and usually focus only on one aspect of healthcare.

Education
- Health information technicians entering the field usually have an associate degree. In addition to education, coursework includes medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, legal aspects of health information, statistics and database management.
- If you are interested in teaching health education, most schools requires a master�s degree.
