Career Summary

Advertising Sales AgentAdvertising sales agents prepare and deliver sales presentations to new and existing customers. They explain to their customers how specific types of advertising will help promote their products and or services to obtain new customers and build existing customer loyalty.

Each advertising sales agent maintain their own database of customers that they alone communicate with. It is their responsibility to build upon their customer database in order to increase their income. This means that advertising sales agent must locate and contact potential clients and offer advertising services. They are than responsible for drawing up the contracts for advertising work, and collect payments due.

Once they are a client the advertising sale agent will deliver advertising illustration proofs, advertising strategy sample and placement ideas to customers for approval. These must be accompanied with estimates of the costs of advertising in the recommended areas.

Beyond selling, advertising sales agents have other duties as well. They analyze sales statistics, prepare reports, and handle the scheduling of their appointments and work hours. They read about new and existing products and monitor the sales, prices, and products of their competitors.
