Westwood College's distinguished history of schools that make up the current Westwood College institutions can be traced back several decades. Throughout its history, Westwood has offered career-focused education in high-demand professional fields.
As careers change, so does Westwood College in order to meet current and future demands required by employers. New programs are developed with the collaboration of industry leaders to meet the needs of the students and industry employers.
In the year that Chevrolet began introducing their plastic bodied Corvettes, Westwood College introduced to Denver, Colorado a new state of the art college founded as Denver Institute of Technology. Since that year and following it's success, Westwood College has extended their success to include career indispensable education to a wider array of students. Curriculum now includes Business, Design, Computer & Information Technology as well as Industrial Services, and Healthcare in fifteen campuses.
Westwood College of Aviation Technology now Redstone College
Louise Mc Phetridge Thaden and copilot Blanche Noyes became the first female team to win the Bendix Transcontinental Air Race against an all male competition in 1936. This was the same year that Westwood College of Aviation Technology embarked in preparing qualified technicians for the aviation industry.
Originally known as Colorado Aero Tech, with only one campus in Broomfield, Colorado... Colorado Aero Tech joined forces with Northrup-Rice Aviation schools in Los Angeles and Houston (Westwood Aviation Institute) and together, the three schools became Westwood College of Aviation Technology. As of March 2006, Westwood College wanted to enhance the unique identity of their Aviation education and changed the name of their Aviation campuses to Redstone College.
