Give The Gift of Education.

Almost everyone has a person on their holiday gift list who is hard to buy for. Perhaps the person you are buying a gift for could use numerous things and no one thing would be best above all. Than again, maybe you have been listening to your friend or your adult child talk about how they would love to go back to college but simply can no afford it.


Parents want to provide their children ample opportunities to excel in life. Sometimes, life throws a curve ball and more education is needed. At other times, career burn out is unavoidable and a new direction is the best course of action. Unfortunately, the cost of a college degree is getting higher every year, making it more difficult for an individual to afford the needed or even wanted new career. While you may not be able to give the gift of a college education, you can present ways that your friend or adult child can benefit from that will make it possible for them to go back to college.

Following is a list of suggestions for those wishing to go to or go back to college.

Grants are a type of student aid that is awarded by the government. Grants for college students do not have to be repaid.

These scholarships are made available by local businesses and organizations normally through corporations in specific industries.

Work-Study: Available for all ages

An arrangement by which a student combines employment and college study. The employment may be an integral part of the academic program (as in cooperative education and internships) or simply a means of paying for college (as in the Federal Work Study Program).
