What is Computer Animation in a nutshell?

Create special effects, animation, or other visual images using film, video, computers, or other electronic tools and media for use in products or creations, such as computer games, movies, music videos, and commercials.

Computer Animation Skills & Responsibilities:


Animators are involve their own type of coding, unique to the graphic design and animation software. Like programming jobs, individuals who wish to work in these fields must know how to write, test, troubleshoot, and maintain scripts and codes to test their work. As with other computer jobs, computer graphics jobs involve a lot of collaboration with other people involved in the project, as well as constant communication with the client. Computer graphic artists must have good communication, team working, and interpersonal skills to be able to handle the responsibilities of computer graphics jobs.


  • Fine Arts ~ Understanding of the theory required to compose, produce, and perform works of music, dance, visual arts, drama, and sculpture.
  • Design ~ Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Animation & Special Effects ~ Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
  • Communications & Media ~ Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods. This includes alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media.

Employment for Computer Animators is expected to grow about as fast as average (14%) for all occupations through the year 2014, as demand for Computer Animators continues to increase from advertisers, publishers, and computer design firms.
